Alcoholism

A chronic disorder characterized by dependence on alcohol or repeated excessive use of alcoholic beverages. Alcoholism is characterized by craving alcoholic beverages, losing control or the inability to stop drinking alcoholic beverages, a physical dependence or need for alcoholic beverages, and an increased tolerance of alcohol, it takes increased amounts in order to achieve a "high" feeling.

Alcoholism can cause major damage to an individual's physical, emotional, mental and social life. Abusive alcohol behavior can cause problems with weight, vision, nervous system (tremors), liver failure, and brain dysfunctions, just to name a few.
