| Bipolar Disorder
This disorder is often called manic-depressive illness. Bipolar disorder is a brain disorder that causes shifts in mood, personality, energy and emotional state. When these shifts occur they are severe, intense periods of highs and lows. Episodes of severe depression and mania are a large symptom of bipolar disorder.
