Computed Tomography
 Allegan General Hospital has a state-of-the-art 16 slice CT scanner. A CT (computed tomography), sometimes called CAT scan, uses special x-ray equipment to obtain many images from different angles around the body. A digital computer together with a rotating x-ray device is used to create detailed cross sectional and/or three dimensional images or “slices” of body tissues and organs. CT imaging is particularly useful because it can show several types of tissue – lung, bone, soft tissue and blood vessels- with great clarity.
Allegan General Hospital’s Radiology department uses state-of-the-art equipment to capture images electronically. All Radiologic technologists are registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
You should wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing with snaps or zippers. Some exams require that you drink a contrast material 1-2 hours prior to your exam. Be sure to check with your healthcare provider for any pre-procedure prep.
Outpatient Radiology (CT) is located on the first floor of Allegan General Hospital.
 Outpatient CT is open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
