Two hundred and fifty-five people participated in the 3rd annual Strides for Health 5K Run/Walk held at Allegan General Hospital on Saturday, August 22. The run started and finished at Allegan General Hospital.
The overall male winner was Dusty Prescott of Wayland, who was the first person to cross the finish line at 15 minutes and 53 seconds. A close second and third were Rafael Nelson (15:56) of Wayland and Kenneth Brooks (16:06) of Portage.
The overall female winner was Jessica Shaw from Allegan. Her time was 19 minutes 46 seconds. There was a tie for second place overall female winner. Both Aziza Ahmadi of Allegan and Sarah Brewer of Wayland crossed the finish line at 19 minutes and 58 seconds.
The winner of this year’s team division was the Super 6 – Aziza Ahmadi, Rachel Bartz, Amy Pegg, Jessica Pegg, Lindsay Pegg and Jessica Shaw.
Strides for Health 5K Run/Walk was a put on by the Allegan General Hospital Foundation, Allegan Public Schools’ Recreation Department and the Allegan Tigershark Aquatic Club in an effort to maintain and improve the health of the community.
