Pediatric Nurse Practitioner
A Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) is a registered nurse who has completed advanced studies to become a specialist in children’s health care. A PNP’s role complements that of the Family Practice physician, and includes performing basic duties once reserved for physicians, such as diagnosing and treating common illnesses and prescribing medication. Special areas of emphasis include the development and behavior of the child, and working collaboratively with schools and other agencies to ensure children receive appropriate interventions and services when needed.
