AGH Unveils Perrigo Imaging Center with Ribbon Cutting and Open House
Allegan General Hospital and the Allegan General Hospital Foundation welcomed State and local representatives, Perrigo Charitable Foundation and community members Wednesday night to celebrate the Perrigo Imaging Center. Allegan General Hospital partnered with the Allegan Area Chamber of Commerce to host a ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house. Guests enjoyed a strolling dinner and self-guided tours of the Imaging Center and saw firsthand the new GE Revolution 64-slice computed tomography (CT) scanner that arrived in early February 2017.
The new CT scanner was purchased thanks to a transformational gift of $650,000 the Hospital received last year from Perrigo Company and the Perrigo Company Charitable Foundation. Both patients and providers are benefitting greatly from improved safety, increased speed and enhanced imaging resolution with the new CT scanner. In recognition of Perrigo’s generosity and long-term partnership, the Hospital chose to name its Imaging Center in Perrigo’s honor. A welcome sign highlighting Perrigo’s many contributions to the community, including Allegan General Hospital, greets visitors to the department.
“Perrigo continues to demonstrate a strong commitment to providing state-of-the-art health care to this community,” said Jerry Barbini, Allegan General Hospital President and CEO. “The CT scanner is the most recent in a long list of very generous Perrigo donations that have significantly enhanced our ability to provide high quality services to area residents. Perrigo is an outstanding partner to Allegan General Hospital and we are thrilled to name our imaging center in their honor. “
“Perrigo was honored to provide funding for the new CT scanner at Allegan General Hospital, a gift that will no doubt greatly impact the lives of many people,” said John Hendrickson, Perrigo Company Chief Executive Officer. “We take great pride in our commitment to the well-being of residents in our surrounding communities and ensuring they have access to the best health care, especially here in Allegan where so many of our employees work and live.”
During the open house, community members had the opportunity to learn firsthand from Radiology team members about the unique range of services offered through the Perrigo Imaging Center. Subject matter experts in Nuclear Medicine, Fluoroscopy, Ultrasound, Mammography, and CT were available to answer questions and explain how each piece of equipment is used to help diagnose medical conditions and offer high-tech treatment close to home for the Allegan community.
“The new CT scanner and other enhancements made by Allegan General Hospital to improve its diagnostic capabilities not only help the hospital keep pace with evolving diagnostic standards, they also ensure patients have access to the most effective diagnostic testing available,” said Tom Farrington, Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer for Perrigo and President of the Perrigo Company Charitable Foundation.
