Hospital Receives Reaccreditation from DNV GL

Allegan General Hospital (AGH) announces it has successfully completed its reaccreditation process from DNV GL – Healthcare, a world-leading certification body. The reaccreditation is for a three-year period.

By earning reaccreditation, AGH has demonstrated it meets or exceeds patient safety standards (Conditions of Participation) set forth by the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

“The DNV GL accreditation is consistent with our long-term commitment to quality and patient safety,” says Amanda Haverdink, Chief Risk and Compliance Officer at Allegan General Hospital. “Achieving reaccreditation shows our patients and community the commitment we have towards continually improving. Our goal as an organization is to always provide exceptional, quality care. We are constantly looking at best practices and other ways to improve and enhance patient satisfaction through effective processes and maintaining consistency of service from one visit to the next.”

DNV GL’s accreditation program, called NIAHO® (Integrated Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations), involves annual hospital surveys – instead of every three years – and encourages hospitals to openly share information across departments and to discover improvements in clinical workflows and safety protocols. DNV GL is also the only healthcare accreditation program to integrate the ISO 9001 Quality Management System with the Medicare Conditions of Participation. ISO 9001 is the world’s most trusted quality management system used by performance-driven organizations around the world to advance their quality and sustainability objectives. AGH is currently in the process of becoming ISO 9001 certified.

AGH’s initial DNV GL certification was in 2013. For more information about DNV GL hospital accreditation, visit
