Summer Babysitting Classes Offered
Throughout the summer months, Allegan General Hospital is offering four sessions of its popular Babysitting Training Class. The class is designed for 12- to 15- year olds and prepares teens for babysitting.
The one day classes will be offered at Allegan General Hospital on Thursday, June 15, Thursday, July 27 and Wednesday, August 23. All classes are from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Hospital will also be holding a class on Tuesday, June 13 at the Otsego Public Library (401 Dix Street, Otsego).
“Our goal is to teach participants the skills they need to know to be a safe and responsible babysitter,” said Jennifer Hamman, AGH’s Babysitting Class Instructor.
Topics covered in class include: infant and child CPR; infant and child first aid; dealing with challenging situations; keeping the children you babysit safe; nutrition; the business of babysitting; and more. At the completion of the class, each student will receive a completion card.
The cost of this course is $55, which includes materials and lunch. However, the Allegan General Hospital Foundation and Allegan Hospital Service League has generously offered to provide a $25 scholarship to each child registered for this class, bringing the cost down to $30 per student.
Space is limited. Individuals can register online at allegangeneral.org/cpr or call AGH’s Community Events Line at (269) 686-4231.
