Esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) is an examination of the lining of the esophagus, stomach, and upper duodenum with a small flexible endoscope.
EGD with Bravo pH study is a catheter free 48 hour pH monitoring device test that assists the doctor in evaluating the frequency and severity of your acid reflux disease. The BRAVO capsule is placed in the lower esophagus. Contraindicated for this test is anyone with an implanted pacemaker, internal defibrillator or neurostimulator.
Esophageal manometry is a very valuable method of recording and evaluating the muscular function of the esophagus. The manometry test is commonly given to people who have pain or difficulty swallowing, heartburn, chest pain or chronic cough or hoarseness.
Small Bowel pillcam is a test that uses a tiny wireless camera, swallowed by the patient, to exam and diagnosis conditions in the esophagus, stomach and small bowel. Contraindicated for this test is anyone with a history of esophageal stricture, an implanted pacemaker, internal defibrillator or neurostimulator.
EGD with Halo is an ablation treatment for Barrett’s esophagus. This procedure is done in correlation with a scope to remove the diseased tissue and allow for new growth of normal tissue. It may require 2-3 treatments.
Percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy is a endoscopic medical procedure in which a tube (PEG tube) is passed into a patient's stomach through the abdominal wall, most commonly to provide a means of feeding when oral intake is not adequate. We offer Initial Peg tube placements and replacements of regular gastrostomy tubes, low profile pegs, and gastro-jejunal combination peg tube options.
Scheduling Your Endoscopy Procedure
Your doctor or surgeon will schedule the day and time of your procedure. A Pre-Admission Testing (PAT) appointment will also be scheduled. This appointment is usually conducted over the telephone. If you are required to have blood work, x-rays or an EKG prior to your procedure, you will need to come into the hospital for your PAT appointment. Please have a list of allergies, medicines, previous surgeries and hospitalizations ready, regardless of the type of PAT appointment you may have scheduled.
