Michael's Story

Just Like New. Just Like That.

Michael Erickson, 51, is a father, a former hog farmer and a fantastic example of the medical wonders of direct anterior approach (DAA) hip surgery, performed first in Southwest Michigan at Allegan General Hospital.

After many years of farm life, Michael started having severe hip problems. In fact, his condition grew so desperate that it immobilized him, containing him to a life on crutches—which was no life at all.

In 2010, Michael’s life brightened after having two hip replacements. He received his first hip replacement by conventional methods, while having his second a few months later by direct anterior approach. As Michael will tell you, there is simply no comparison. The surgery performed with the DAA method produced far better outcomes, helping Michael recover much quicker.
